ASHTAR Theatre

ASHTAR Theatre in Palestine is developing a new international theatre project, WAVES, together with director at Ibsen Stage Company, Terje T. Mikkelsen.

The project is now seeking touring and guest-performance opportunities, as well as co-funding and production partners. Saba and Mikkelsen welcome contact from organisations and individuals who may be relevant to the project, and are happy to arrange a conversation to share more information.

WAVES is a meta-theatrical adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s The Lady from the Sea, bringing its three central female characters into a contemporary Palestinian context, all performed by a single Palestinian actress. The production moves between different identities, stories, and realities, exploring themes of freedom, choice, home, love, and identity—with a particular focus on language as a political and personal force.
