TORVALD

A masculine man-cave monologue from a white, heterosexual, middle-aged man in midlife crisis

Nora left; Torvald stayed. Divorced and exiled to the basement, Torvald Helmer from A Doll’s House invites the audience to dinner to tell his side of the story. Written and directed by Ibrahim Fazlic, it is a darkly funny, interactive portrait of masculinity, loneliness and online radicalisation. Developed with an Ibsen Scope grant, it premiered at Grenland Friteater in 2024, toured Norway and played Turteatern in Stockholm in 2026.

Ahead of Ibsen’s bicentenary in 2028, we are seeking international partners. The production is easy to tour: one actor and one technician, for 30–55 audience members. The script is available in Norwegian, English and French. We offer three models: a guest performance of the original production, rights to the script, or a co-production with a local actor.
